For anyone interested in the molecule. It is a tertiary amide which could be made by the reaction between a carboxylic acid (or better acyl chloride) and a secondary amine. Alternatively I believe it could be made from an anime or ammonia through the reaction meantioned above but twice or three times.

Originally I had a secondary amide, but it didn't stand up as well so I changed it to a tertiary amide by replacing a hydrogen with a methyl group. At the time, I didn't know that tertiary amides were possible, but it seems they are, though I'm not sure if they occur often naturally.

Yeah, it's like every university has to write a novel for you. To be honest, I haven't even read most of them, I just skipped straight to the chemistry and looked at the area, accommodation and such.

Yep, hopefully I will be studying chemistry, I got three As and a B in my As exams so I can apply to everywhere I was looking at, including Oxford.
